Welcome to the What If Blog Tour! I am so excited to share this book with you! It was such an incredible story! What If by AJ Pine is a book you will not want to miss! Check out more about the book, Tina’s Thoughts, and a fabulous giveaway!
Sometimes it takes letting go of the past to find out who you want to be.
During his semester abroad, Griffin Reed almost gave his heart to a girl who loved someone else. Lesson learned. Now he’s home, where following in his father’s footsteps may not be what he wants, but it’s what his parents expect. It might be taking the easy road, but he doesn’t see a way out.
Something that could have killed Maggie Kendall took away the person she used to be instead. Her condition makes her dependent on sticky notes, photos, and medication just to get through each day. The last thing she needs is a distraction—or someone new to disappoint.
What they refuse to see is they are perfect for each other. Maggie makes Griffin want to be a better man, and he makes her believe a future is possible. But these two have to find a way to share the secrets ripping them apart, if they’re ever going to have a chance at happiness.

What If is my first AJ Pine book and I need her to write libraries full of books for me to read! This story hooked me from the first page and I loved every minute of it. It is full of hope, love, life, and strength. Griffin and Maggie are perfect! Their personalities and life experiences help to create an incredible story that will touch your heart and make you cheer them on.
Maggie and Griffin meet by chance. This story is full of first, second, and third chances. When they meet, there is a connection but life moves on and they go their separate ways. But once again, fate intervenes and they cannot deny the pull between them. They decide for one night of fun, a night of abandonment and adventure where they can leave their unknown past and life issues at the door to enjoy each other’s company. This non date develops into so much more and these two fall head over heels in love. But two people who are broken cannot truly love without trust and partnership, something that incites hesitancy in our two main characters. The main question is, will they risk it all or is there too much to lose?
What If is the perfect blend of romance, drama, and deep emotion. Maggie and Griffin are two lost souls who are soon tethered to one another. Their constant interactions bring fresh life to their sad lives yet they continue to allow fear to rule their actions. From the first page I was completely invested in their story. There is so much happening with our two main characters that you cannot help but become emotionally invested in their lives.
Maggie is quite the mystery. She is sweet and kind, seeing things in such clarity that it was refreshing. There is something going on with her that you never truly understand until much later in the story. The development of this plot line was so well executed. It creates a sense of curiosity without annoyance at being left in the dark. Maggie is a survivor and a fighter. She takes life as it comes and learns to adapt to her situations. Her quirks are so endearing. Her passion for life is contagious. I loved this heroine so much!
When I first started reading about Griffin, I wondered what AJ would do to make him stand out among the heroes of New Adult literature. She succeeeded in spades. I loved him. He is such an incredibly written broken yet genuine character. His need to escape and control what he can shows us so much about who he is and what life has dealt to him. His initial interactions with Maggie bring life to a sad place in his heart and when that boy comes alive, he is sweet, kind, adventurous, and sexy as hell.
As Maggie and Griffin embark on their non-dating adventure, it is such an emotional journey. Two broken characters have the ability to make or break one another in the deepest and most painful way. Their interactions are sweet and wonderful. Their passion is on fire. The deeper you go with these two characters, the more you want to know about their lives and see them succeed in life and in love. The supporting cast of characters was perfect. I absolutely loved Miles and Paige. Griffin’s sisters and niece were wonderful. These characters added a flavor that set an incredible tone for the book. Both our hero and heroine have found love and support in their personal spheres that allow for them to find love in each other. The humor in this story is great. The quirk and personalities are perfect. The emotion on each page of this book will stop your heart. There is pain, loss, and hurt that is so deeply felt. But there is also life, love, and second chances that helps to define our characters choices and decisions.
This book will draw you in. Your heart and mind cannot help but be enveloped into this emotion story. It will connect you to their characters situations and pain. It will leave you breathless and feeling alive. This story was so well written and well developed. It made me long for friends like Miles and Paige and family like Nat and Violet. This story creates a desire to see a truly happily ever after, where secrets are no more and passion for living is the standard. AJ Pine has secured a spot on my must read author list and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next. Don’t miss out on this incredibly heart felt and fun New Adult book! AJ Pine writes stories to break readers’ hearts, but don’t worry—she’ll mend them with a happily ever after. As an English teacher and a librarian, AJ has always surrounded herself with books. All her favorites have one big commonality–romance. Naturally, her books have the same. When she’s not writing, she’s of course reading. Then there’s online shopping (everything from groceries to shoes) and, of course, a tiny bit of TV where she nourishes her undying love of vampires, from Eric Northman to the Salvatore brothers. And in the midst of all of this, you’ll also find her hanging with her family in the Chicago burbs.
AJ’s debut New Adult novel, IF ONLY, is out now with Entangled’s Embrace line. The companion novel, WHAT IF, releases December 8th. Next year look for her new duo of New Adult books, ONE NIGHT and ONE LIFE with Penguin/Intermix.
