tina's thoughtsTruth in Watercolors has it all! It has emotion, depth, characters you love, and passion! This story was a beautiful friends to lovers story, one in which our lead characters had to fight so hard for what they want, leaving them more deeply connected and whole. Kimberly Rose does an excellent job of making the reader engage with the characters and situations, creating a reading experience that is both moving and exciting.

This story is not about the place or specific themes- it is about the characters, the people that Kimberly has created. There are some themes that you read about that round out the story really well but the constant focus is on Wes and Capri, which draws us into their story. There are no distractions of too much “other” happening and that is a beautiful thing. The reader is able to focus on who Wes and Capri are and allows us to dive head first into their past, present, and future, learning who they are and what they bring to the table.

The connection between Wes and Capri is beautiful. It is a friendship that has developed into more, set on a foundation that has the power to make or break their relationship. Their creativity together and separately is stunning. I loved visualizing their joined efforts and individual art, opening my imagination to who they both were creatively. That was so much fun! Kimberly uses the words in this story to literally paint a picture for what you see. There is depth, detail, and color all throughout the story. With their creativity comes so much emotion and passion. These two feel deeply and love deeply. When they jump in, it is with both feet. They both open their worlds to each other, sharing such deep secrets that those around them have never known.  They click perfectly but that simple idea alone has the power to make or break what is growing between them.

Despite the ups and downs that you encounter in this story, you see so much truth in the emotions displayed. There is no room in this story for fluff or over-exaggerated drama. This story is true to the direction Kimberly is taking Wes and Capri, which balances the highs and lows of the story. Everything is justified throughout the book  and never too much or too little. The emotion and drama between these two is a lure that will hook you in. Seeing the story through both Wes and Capri’s POVs allows the reader to truly understand what is happening: to see each character as an individual but also the way that they smooth each other’s edges and compliment their strengths while overcoming their weaknesses.

You see plenty of friends and family from the first book in the series so those who have read and loved Truth in Wildflowers will be happy to see their favorites back! This story will evoke passion and creativity to all who read it. It made me want to pick up a paintbrush and share my emotions through art with the world. This story is wonderful and you will not want to miss it!
