Isaiah Wright is broken. So broken he’s positive he’ll never be fixed again. Surviving every soldier’s worst nightmare is enough for him to want nothing more than to give into the blackness that plagues him.
Emma Nicholls knows pain. Four years after the devastating loss of her fiancé, she’s set up her own business providing service dogs to veterans in an attempt to put her own life back together.
Circumstance brings Isaiah into her life, but neither are prepared for the fire that burns between them. It’s immediate, one broken soul finding solace in another, but it’s also… terrifying.
His soldier’s heart is surrounded by walls ten feet high. But maybe, just maybe, Emma and her brood of trainee service dogs can break through and be the light he so desperately needs.

If you are looking for a sweet story of love, second chances, and the return of the broken solider, this one is definitely for you. Solider’s Heart is a sweet and stunning story of love and learning to forgive. It shares the story of a woman who lost everything and learned to come back from the darkness of her grief. It is about a man who learns to forgive and find solace in the last place her would have ever expected. The best part of this book for me is the dogs. Hands down. The concept of trained dogs as companions to soldiers struggling with PTSD among other things is something that will tug at your heart strings. The connection that grows between a dog and a man, as is so brilliantly portrayed in this book, is beautiful. This story dives deeper into something that is so profound and not always recognized, a way to health that is unique. I loved how the story unfolds, allowing the reader to see the love grow between man and dog and the way that they save each other.
This story is filled with different themes, none overtaking the story completely. There is a sweet and beautiful love story that progresses naturally. There is a healing story that allows for hope and human resilience to shine bright. There is also an element of suspense and danger thrown into the mix. Megan Green does a great job of blending these elements together into a great contemporary piece. It is a love story but it is so much more. I would even wager that it is more of a story of healing and second chances than anything else.
Solider’s Heart is a great addition to the Wounded Love series. If you have read Safe Distance, the first book in the series, you will be so excited to see Ryan and Haylee again. They are featured in a big way in the beginning and weave in and out of this book! This story shares the reality of those who come back home from war, the ones who survive and the ones left behind. It is a story of resilience and healing, a one of finding strength and hope in a place you might not expect. This book will give you a look into something many might not understand and it will touch your heart. Don’t miss this lovely story!
