1. Don’t call your hot boss the antichrist to his face.
2. Don’t stare at hot boss’s, um, package or his full sleeve of tattoos. (No. Really. Stop!)
3. Don’t get on the malicious first assistant’s bad side.
4. Don’t forget to memorize the 300-page employee manual.
5. If you value your cashmere, steer clear of boss’s dog.
6. Boss’s dimples are lust-inducing. Do. Not. Give. In.
7. “The elevator ate your clothes” is not a valid excuse for showing up to important meetings half dressed.
8. Don’t break seven of the rules within the first week of employment if you, ya know, are in dire need of money to support your sick mom.

tina thoughts a review for you

I adore Jennifer Blackwood’s writing. She takes something mundane and makes it fun, flirty, and enjoyable. Who knew the company handbook could open up a world full of laughter and drama?! The Rule Book is genius. The story is well paced, the characters are lovable in unique ways, and in the end, you cannot help but devour this book!

Lainey is a breath of fresh air. Her inability to keep her thoughts to herself creates mayhem and allows for her to find herself in some very funny situations. I loved watching her adapt to the corporate world and learn how to be all she could be. Her vibrant personality makes the reader long to be friends with her and laugh till the sun goes down. I loved her friendships and relationship with her mother, as well as the ways that she maneuver the obstacles in her path, sharing a floundering young woman intent to make her mark. She is strong, feisty, and caring. The sacrifices she makes for her mother are heartfelt and her love for those around her is sweet.

Brogan  was not what I was expecting. I am not that intrigued by the alpha billionaire stereotype but never fear, Jennifer makes this man so much more than the norm! He was a good boss who was driven and capable. His struggle with his feelings for Lainey is honest and real. His rash decisions are authentic and well in line with who he is. He has a learning curve all throughout the book and watching him attempt and flounder is so endearing. The chemistry between these two cannot be denied. It builds and the spark becomes a raging inferno that is bound to burn someone in the end.

I loved the rules, both the company handbook and Lainey’s life rules, that are sprinkled all throughout the story. This book is great. I still chuckle to myself when I think of Lainey and her antics. Everything in this story works. Not only will you laugh out loud, you will feel it all. The emotions Lainey, Brogan, and the characters we meet evoke allow us to set off on a story that is everything you want, making your heart crack and healing it right back up in the end. You will not want to miss this book!
