Fear stops dreams in their tracks before they even have a chance. Then again, so do injuries.

Natalia Grekov was born to win Olympic gold. As the USA’s top gymnast, she’s calm, confident and ready to make her country proud in just two short months. And her elite athlete lifestyle includes no time for distractions—especially men. When a disastrous fall in practice puts her dreams at risk, it seems the only person who can help her is the one person she wants nothing from.

Spencer Russell is gymnastics’ bad boy. A cocky, laid-back charmer with abs of steel and a witty mouth, he waltzes around the U.S. Gymnastics Training Camp like he owns the place—even though he doesn’t anymore. After an injury sidelined his career and any chance at Olympic glory, he’s now just a coach, helping other gymnasts reach their goals. Serious is not a word in Spencer’s vocabulary. But when Natalia tumbles into his life, he’s suddenly sincerely interested in helping the blonde beauty in any way he can.

Can they vault over the obstacles standing in their way? Or will Spencer be the distraction that causes Natalia’s chance at gold to crash and burn?

tina thoughts a review for you

It is Olympic fever in the book world and this one nails it. Blind Landing, the first in Carrie Aaron’s Flipped series, shares the dark side of competitive gymnastics, a world that is both intriguing and slightly terrifying. I loved this book! Aarons writes a book that is culturally relevant with just the right amount of angst and romance to seal the deal. Nat is a fantastic gymnast, a snarky and brilliant character that people will root for. Spence is the one who challenges her in both the sport and life. When you put these two together, their chemistry shines bright and gives the reader a silver lining to the gritty world this book shares.

Blind Landing takes the reader into the world of Olympic hopefuls and the struggles they face to win the gold. It was interesting to see how Aarons portrayed what happens behind the scenes. The professional sports world is often rocked by scandal and this book shows the building tension and fruition of that struggle. I admired the many athletes we meet in this book, those who sacrificed a “normal” life for the chance to bring glory to their country. Nat is a strong and confident woman. She has lived in this competitive world for 16 years and her tenacity is well displayed as you read. I adored getting to know this woman. Her mindset is extraordinary and her power is raw and inspiring. Her leadership is on point! This characters exudes personality, a strong current that has the ability to take her places beyond her dreams. I loved watching her push hard and strive for her spot on the Olympic team. Spence is a man who takes life as it comes, all the while learning to cope with his lost dream. It was heartbreaking to learn the pain he deals with and the way he wanders through life, longing for the one thing he can no longer have. His flirtatious personality challenges Nat and together, these two are spot on. The romance is well paced and the forbidden aspect adds a level of angst to the story. I enjoyed the push and pull between these two, which adds a lightness to the story.

This book is yet another fantastic book to grace the world, blending the Olympic dream with a New Adult story. I am excited for more from the Flipped series, hoping to see much more of the gymnasts we met in the book and learning more of who they are and where they are headed.
