After The Uprising ended, I was so frustrated. I thought I would finally know what happened but instead everything was so messed up and I needed to know what happened. Hernandez has a winner in this YA series. Everything about this series is intriguing. The characters are flawed and real. The situations are frustrating and seemingly overwhelming. The life and death backdrop creates a space for the ordinary to rise and take charge. If you love YA dystopian stories, this series NEEDS to be on your TBR list.

The Invasion might be my favorite of the series so far. It seems like all the chaos of the series (something that is necessary to the world we come to know) hones into focus and a common goal comes to play in a new way. We see the events of this book unfold in both Cyrus and Evan’s POVs. This is a big deal. It shows so many moving parts and allows the reader to get a bigger picture of what is taking place. Hernandez does a great job of balancing the romance between our hero and heroine with the chaos they live in. Everything blends well and this story is equal parts a fight between good and evil and parts love story. I loved how so many different pockets of people come together. Throughout the series, we see Cyrus and Evan in so many different locations. Bringing those people they meet together, with a common goal, heightens the anticipation as to what is coming next.

I was expecting the end of the series with this book but I am so happy for more. Hernandez has done a fantastic job of setting us up for something big coming hopefully very soon! The stage is set and I am eager to see how Cyrus and Evan lead their band of misfits into the next phase. While some loose ends have been tied up between different characters, the main focus is now on the fight to the finish and the exciting balance of the world of The Union and The Ruins. I am ready for more!!
