Review: Rain Trilogy by Karen-Anne Stewart

Synopsis:

A fascinating story of a young woman named Raina. Raina had a hard life and lost her mother at a very young age. She was beaten and abused by her father and raped as a teen. Despite her many trials, she locked away her demons and created a new life for herself. The brilliant young woman is working on her doctorate. In comes Kas, the FBI agent who is stunned by Raina. They develop a friendship which develops into something so much more. Raina begins to work at the FBI as a language consultant and her uses her computer skills to help Kas and his team take down human trafficking rings. As the story professes, Raina’s past comes back to haunt her and she must face her demons and learn what it means to truly forgive, love and feel again. I would jabber on and on but I don’t want to give it all away.

Tina’s Thoughts:

I loved the story between Raina and Kas. It was never perfect and at times is was complicated and messy. However, they learned to work through it all and come out stronger on top. It created a bit of an emotional roller coaster for yours truly, but in the end I would not want it any other way. Some of the subject matter was a littler hard to swallow. The FBI task force is going after those who sell and objectify women in the worst possible way. Some of the details that are alluded to are hard to imagine and swallow. I would advise you to make sure that you are ready for this subject matter. The only real down side I had was the writing style. It wasn’t a problem at all just a style I wasn’t used to. It was an all seeing narrator and at times it would jump from one person tp the next and analyze their reaction. I had to reread a few spots when I missed the change but I was also reading rather quickly since I was engrossed in the story line. Overall it was a great read and I read them quickly!
