How far would you go?
A little girl waits alone to be picked up after ballet class—until an unmarked car approaches, and she is gone. But this little girl is the daughter of Police Captain Riedwaan Faizal. He is desperate to rescue her, but, suspended from the squad, he finds himself powerless.
With nobody on his side, the captain turns to investigative journalist and criminal profiler Dr. Clare Hart, whose documentary about Cape Town’s missing young girls has made her a local celebrity. Clare knows that the odds of a child’s survival dwindle with each passing minute. She knows that hiding her investigation from the police has its
own dangers. But she will do anything to help a heartbroken father … even if it puts all their lives at risk.
Daddy’s Girl is a dark and compelling crime story that will thrill fans of Deon Meyer and Tess Gerritsen.

Tina’s Thoughts…
*Please be aware that this book contains sensitive subject matter related to gangs, violence, rape and kidnapping.
I do not think that I was prepared for this book when I began reading it. This book is not for the faint of heart. The subject matter is hard to swallow but such an incredible story. Within the first few chapters, the reader is introduced to everything you would find within the underbelly of South African society. Drugs, rape, violence, abuse, gangs, corruption and death are all highlighted within the foundation of the story. I was a bit weary to continue, but when I did there was a story of family, courage, hope and determination. Dr. Clare Hart was my favorite character from this story. If this woman existed in real life, I would love to meet her. She is a woman determined for change within South Africa, a woman who has made it her goal to search for and find the “Persephones” of South Africa and reunite them with their mothers. To shine light on an unsavory issue in hopes to bring awareness and justice to missing and kidnapped children. Her documentaries cause people to take a look at the world differently. Her skills in observation and communication allow her to find these little girls, bringing peace and closure to their families. Captain Riedwaan Faizal is the picture of a frantic father who will do anything and cross any lines in order to find his daughter. His success has made him a target for many unscrupulous characters within the drug and gang community. The injustices brought against him throughout the book where frustrating. The way people tried to crucify him as an example, when in reality he was not who or what they claimed him to be. His struggle was real and his desperation was heart wrenching. Then the plot twist I did not see coming just broke my heart. I am glad I pushed through those first few heavy chapters! Despite the many harsh realities, this book focuses on the fight of a father to find his daughter and a woman determined to make it happen, even when hop seems lost. It is a beautiful and realistic story of two people determined to bring a little girl home.
