bad son risingPeople think I’m a douche.

And maybe I am.

I use most people.

It’s what I know.

But if I love you,

I’d die for you.

I just don’t know that I’m worth loving.

Handsome, privileged bad boy Zac Moore has always played by his own rules – at school, in business, with women. He’s rewritten the rules to suit his own needs and his needs are all that matter.

Serious and focused family friend Liliana Castillo has one goal. Leave the pre-Med program at Yale to help people in developing nations.

As their paths cross and uncross, a tale of love, agony, betrayal and growth is woven, transforming two people who’ve hidden from relationships and love.

This is a stand-alone novel.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR-2

“Lils, I don’t know that I’m great boyfriend material. I’m used to being a dick. It’s what I know.” He was hoping she’d say something, but she didn’t. “But I would want it to be different with you. You’re not a drive-by. And I don’t really know how to do the other stuff. But you make me want it. You make me want to try.”

Sweeping her hair to one side, he buried his face in her neck.

Finally, she spoke, “Are you saying this to me because we’re stuck here? Because if you are, don’t. I don’t want a one night stand with you, Zac.”

Letting his teeth graze the soft skin of her neck, he felt her shiver, “I don’t want a one night stand with you either and with my track record I know that may be hard to believe. And of course the one girl I want to believe it, doesn’t.” Pulling his mouth away from her delicious tasting neck, he rested his chin on her shoulder.

“Ok, I’ve got nothing to lose here,” he began. “The weekend we met, all I wanted to do was make you notice me,” he laughed, “and you didn’t even know that I was alive. I wanted to make you smile, Lils. Isn’t that crazy. I just wanted to make you smile.”

Turning herself fully within the circle of his arm, she was on her knees facing him, “You wanted to make me smile?”

He nodded.

“I was so miserable. I just wanted to be over here. I didn’t want to be back at Yale.” Surprising him, she placed her hands on his cheeks, “And you wanted to make me smile?”

He nodded again.

And there it was, beautiful and elusive, and Zac could feel his emotions rising dangerously close to the surface. Liliana Castillo had a heart stopping smile and the only thing he could do was return it with one of his own.

Tina's Thoughts... A review for you

At first I had some trouble getting into the book but once I found a groove and the backstory had been established I really enjoyed the storyline. I have not read the Needing Moore Trilogy so I had no background as to who Zac Moore was and the level of his antics and bad attitude. At the beginning Lily and Zac meet for the first time at Schooner and Mia’s wedding. He is hesitant to approach her and finds her fascinating. He asks her for a dance and once the song ends they go separate ways never to know if they will see each other again, yet the thought of Lily is never far from Zac’s mind. We jump forward to Zac at college, and he is basically at first glance a terrible person. He has some good qualities and once you see how he loves his family and best friends there seems to be streak of redeeming quality but not very much. Due to his antics and putting his brilliant entrepreneurs mind to a misunderstood scheme, he is kicked out of school and forced to find another path in life. He learns from conversation with his dad and Lilly’s father that Lily is deep in the plains of Africa and consistently putting herself in the dangerous line of fire for what she sees as the right thing to do. While listening to this conversation Zac makes a plan to get out of the States for a while and do some self discovery while keeping an eye on Lily, while attempting to pursue her in his own way. Seems like a good enough plan but one thing you can never count on is making a plan in Africa. Things never go the way you want and Lily has no idea what to make of Zac. So they try to figure out what could happen between them, yet tragedy strikes causing them both to flee Africa, going separate ways, trying to pick up the pieces of their hearts and lives apart.

At the beginning all I could think was what have I gotten my self into. The stroy was hard to jump into due to the backstory and time jumping but once several facts were established, the story began to pick up pace and I found myself enjoying it. I love Africa and hope to be there again one day for a extended amount of time. So any story that shows people working in far away Africa, I cart help but go soft inside my heart. This book portrays a terrible bad boy and his path towards healing and finding redemption within his own skin. Many terrible things happened during his childhood and adolescent years, coupled with a broken home, there was not much hope for him to come out unscathed. These experiences caused him to confuse basic needs and habits through a warped lens. When the truth comes out, it is heartbreaking to see what happened and how it directed his life. I really enjoy the theme within books that shows the redemption and healing of a very broken character.

Another thing I appreciated was the solidarity of friendships and relationships within the story. Liz and Zac are the best of friends. Zac’s relationship with Mia, his step-mother, is sweet and exactly what he needed. Zac’s love and affection for his younger siblings is the sweetest thing ever. It is a testament to his charcater that he may treat people terrible but those that he loves and choses as family are people that he would die for.

Overall this story starts off a little slow but once it picks up it hooks you into Zac’s transformation and the relationship the blooms between Lily and Zac. Their love isn’t instantaneous but goes through a refining process, one where they constantly weave in out of each other’s lives.  At times I wondered if their relationship would be able to thrive but when love choose you there is nothing you can do but wait patiently and pursue relentlessly. Make sure to check out Zac’s story today. In the end all I could do was smile!
