Holy smokes! Chelsea M Cameron… I love you but I also hate you right now. BEHIND YOUR BACK was a fabulous romantic suspense that took me on an adventure that abruptly ended (curse you cliffhanger) and left me begging for more. This book surprised me. It was a slow burn that raged into an inferno of questions, suspicion, and lust.

The beginning of this book was a little slow but I stuck with it knowing that Chelsea has never steered me wrong. I am so glad that I did. When the relationship between Quinn and Saige began to progress, the stage was set for an intense connection, attraction, and slew of problems. This book is filled with snippets of intrigue and as the story builds, Chelsea does an incredible job of taking you along to an unforeseen destination.

The characters… I loved all the different players in this story. You have the team that works with Quinn. Each character has a different personality and end goal, all of which makes for a unique team of men determined to take down the primary target. Their end game slowly unfolds and the trap is set. Each person has such a specific place within the group and that allows the reader to understand part of who they are. There is a great deal of mystery surrounding these men but their secrets and determination draw the reader into their circle. I loved Quinn’s relationship with his sister. It adds a good dose of compassion and joy to his ever growing web of lies. It allows us to see more of who Sylas is and understand his determination to bring about change and revenge. Quinn is a complicated man with a past that has shaped his very soul. He is broken yet fights with everything he is. His brilliance is innate and you cannot help but be drawn to him. Saige was a beautifully written character- a woman determined to make her own with flair and grace. She is a wonderfully complex written character that captivates the reader. Each character within this story has a purpose and that purpose is vital to the story. That detail alone makes for a great read!

This book has many twists and turns. There is intrigue, passion, misdirection, and manipulation. Somethings you see coming and others you do not. Chelsea is well versed in the art of the red herring and when the last scene unfolded- I was shocked. I had been focused on something different developing in the plot and was taken back by what was happening. As the story progresses you learn more about the key players. You begin to learn their supposed role in the grand scheme and the realization that nothing is quite as it seems. So often the moments of reality collide with this fabricated lies and it becomes more difficult to wade through the emotions and consequences. I loved how everything builds to an ending that will surprise you.

The relationship between Saige and Quinn is lovely- despite the motivations behind it. When the romance blurs and emotions become ensnared, there is so much more to lose. I loved watching these two fall in love. As I read the story I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it did it was in a way that I was not expecting. The relationship, despite the fact that it was manipulated from the beginning, begins to grow organically and these two fall deep.

BEHIND YOU BACK is a story that will draw you into a web of intrigue and raw emotion. It starts as a slow burn and escalates into a raging inferno of lies, deception, and passion. I am waiting on pins and needles for BACK TO BACK to see what happens to Saige, Quinn, and the whole gang!
