Have you ever read a book and at the end thought “What the hell just happened here?” That is what happened with BEAUTIFUL LITTLE FOOL- and in a good way. I have read KK’s other works, namely the Twelve Beats in a Bar series, and I was excited to read this one from her. I am so glad that she gave some warning to release all pre-conceived notions on this book and go in blind- that it was nothing like what she has written before. I am glad that I took this advice to heart. It allowed me to see the story with a fresh perspective and that made ALL the difference.

This book basically centers around Cedar. She is conniving, manipulative, and the epitome of what every woman in New York wanted to be. She was brilliant, gorgeous, and determined to have what she wanted no matter the cost. At first she comes across as an alpha female. It is not often that you read such a strong and independent woman who is the alpha in a story. She is the one calling the shots and every man is at her back and call. She is at the top in every possible way and that was something interesting to read. It is not often you read such a strong female lead and she has that strength and determination in spades.

Poor Ellis never stood a chance against her persuasion. He is shocked at his change in life and what new direction he finds himself in. He is not prepared for the world ahead of him and Cedar finds this as an opportunity to get her way. Ellis just wants to live his life and find a way in this new found chaos so he relies on Cedar for help and falls in love. Their relationship seems picturesque but hides many secrets- some that poor Ellis knows nothing about.

Needless to say the last 30% of the book shocked me. This story took a complete turn and it was well played and well delivered. Maybe I should have seen it coming but I didn’t. It was well planned and well executed on KK’s part. Who knew she had such a sinister side of her writing brain?! This book will shock you in a new way. I am still reeling from that ending. Cedar  Reynolds… The world needs to watch out for the alpha witch.

If you want a surprise and a fresh story , this book might just be what you need. There is so much happening in this short book that you take it in as it comes and are stunned after the last page. KK has shown a new side to her writing style and I am both intrigued and terrified as to what this side of her brain comes up with next!
