If you love a story that shares the beginning of a relationship spliced with the after math of a tragedy then look no further. Nazarea Andrews new release BEFORE & AFTER follows the story of a group of friends before and after a life altering event. This story focuses mainly on one couple, Rike and Peyton. The past is told from Rike’s POV allowing the reader to see who Rike is and the attraction that grows to love between these two characters. The present day events are told in Peyton’s POV, allowing us to see a young woman who struggles to decipher her life and find what is right in front of her.

This story definitely packs a punch in a small package. I read this story fast (it was shorter than most books I read) and the pace is fast, jumping from the past to the present. It develops a sweet and profound love story in the past allowing the reader to fall in love with Rike and Peyton’s love story and understand the significance of what is happening in the present. Sometimes with time hopping stories there is a lacking in the development of what is happening, but with BEFORE & AFTER Nazarea gives us what we need and leaves extraneous details as a side note. I appreciated that. The main focus of this story is Peyton and Rike but the things that are so important to them, such as friends and their passions, are woven themes that enrich the story but don’t tale away from the main focus. You see their love for art and music, understanding their connection and love as passionate and real.

I enjoyed how this story tugs at your heart strings. You are anxious for Peyton to come to the conclusion you do: these two are meant to be and that cannot change. Watching the struggle in the present is at times agonizing but the love and consistency from friends and loved ones allows the authenticity of hope to shine through. This short, sexy story will take you on an emotional journey that will cause your heart to ache and beat for Peyton and Rike.
