Roped In was a story that I had high hopes for and they were all exceeded to the moon and beyond. Dover does a fantastic job of taking a story that you anticipate and adding twists and turns to the plot that surprise you and create an endearing and heart pumping story in the best possible way.  There is romance, humor, danger, and mystery all wrapped up in Dover’s signature package, a story with a punch that is sweet, quick, and well developed.

My favorite part of this book was the way I was surprised. When you read so many books, you begin to be able to anticipate who the villain is and what is going to happen next. I was shocked when the culprit was revealed and the story started to get crazy. There were red herrings and so many different theories you start to develop but none really prepared me for what was actually happening. I loved that beyond anything else. I liked the characters and the plot line but the surprise factor was what sealed the deal for me in this story.

I enjoyed the relationship between Blake and Hadley. They is so much emotion between them, both the good kind and the bad kind. They bring out the frustrations in each other but as time progresses, it becomes a passion that burns bright. I loved their constant sass and how they would surprise each other, functioning outside the labels they had been given. Hadley is full of spunk. There is a maturity mixed with innocence that bleeds into this story. She is brave and kind. Her love of family, friends, and music is something that influences her every decision. I loved how she defied every expectation Blake had and gave just as much as she got. Blake starts as the cowboy asshole but once he realizes his judgement of the superstar have been wrong, he begins to respect and appreciate who Hadley is and what she represents.

Watching these two fall in love was sweet. It was a bit quick, but once the spark is lit, there is no doubt to their feelings. The lust turns into insta-love pretty fast but emotions run high in their  specific situation so it isn’t too crazy to believe. When they commit, their relationship is good and everything you want in a cowboy romance. When Blake dons his super-secret undercover agent hat, the adrenaline sparks a new level of romance and passion. Their relationship is not filled with very much internal drama. It is more of a relationship where they can come back to each other and find a safe place against the chaos around them.

This books is not to be missed. It has everything you want in a romantic suspense book with the added bonus that LP Dover was the one who created it. It is full of ups and downs, taking the reader on an intense ride that you will never see coming.

Blake was a little ways ahead, but stopped and turned around. “You okay back there, princess?”

I waved him on. “Don’t worry about me!” I shouted. Picking up my pace, I reached down and grabbed a handful of snow. Each step he took, I did double to catch up to him. My fingers were numb from the snow, but I was almost there. Just a few more steps . . .

Blake sidestepped and tackled me out of nowhere, making me scream. His feet slipped and we both fell to the ground, laughing as we rolled around in the snow. He ended up pinning me to the ground, his legs straddling my waist and his body flush with mine. I shivered and it wasn’t because of the snow.

“You should know better than to sneak up on someone like me,” he said. His eyes strayed to my lips.

“I didn’t think you’d hear me,” I whispered breathlessly.

“You’d be surprised what I notice, princess.” He trailed a finger down my cheek to my rapidly beating heart. “Like how your heart is racing right now. I didn’t know I had that effect on you.” I blew out a nervous breath and he smiled, his lips getting closer to mine. “Tell me what you want,” he murmured.

“I can’t.”

“Why?”

“Because once I say the words, I can’t take them back.”

He brought his hands to my face, his thumbs tracing my cheeks. “Maybe this will help.” His lips closed over mine and I melted against him, willingly giving in. I’d never been kissed like that and I didn’t want it to stop. I wanted more. He pushed his tongue inside and I moaned as the heat rose between my legs. Holy hell, I wanted him. Rocking my hips up into him, I dug my nails in his back and he growled, pulling away.

“Fuck, Hadley.”

“What’s wrong?” I asked, breathing hard.

He brushed the hair off my face and kissed me again. “You make me want things I can’t have.”

I nodded. He said exactly what I was thinking. “I know how you feel.”
