LH Cosway is an incredible author and this book is once again a testament to that fact. HEARTS OF BLUE is a stunning story of right and wrong and the grey in between. Karla and Lee are fantastic characters that embody what this story is about: the struggle between right and wrong and deciding for yourself where you stand in the midst of chaos. I loved how LH does not make this an easy book. You cannot totally land on one side of the gap. The shades of grey are full of choices and opportunities to rise above a situation and make the choices needed. There are right choices and wrong choices, ones that make you sit back and think about what decision you would make.
The classic cop and robber story takes on a new face lift in this book. Karla is a strong female constable, longing to make a difference and bring about change and justice in the world around her. She is kind with a big heart that beats for those less fortunate. She sees the world in crisp shades of black and white, attempting to make a place for herself in law enforcement and bring about change. She is an admirable strong character but in her fight for justice she is blinded by circumstances around her. Watching her moments of enlightenment and how she proceeds with her determination is a very self-aware process that allows the reader time to think and come to an individual conclusion. Her counterpart Lee is the epitome of her total opposite until they get to know each other. He is a young man who has had to deal with the horrors of reality on his shoulders for too long. He has lived on the wrong side of the law. He is a father figure and a leader, a man who will risk it all to protect his own. He is a shameless flirt. His confidence exudes from ever part of who he is and his fierce demeanor is both intimidating and attractive. When you put these two polar opposites into the same realm, there is bound to be an explosion of massive proportions.
Each character, both primary and secondary is spot on. Karla and Lee are naturally amazing. The Cross boys are a cast of characters that bring trouble and humor to the story. Alexis and Reya are wonderful friends who support Karla in every way. I loved meeting the good cops and the bad cops that Karla interacted with. Each face you see is important to the flow of the story, giving what is needed for the main characters to thrive and the story to progress.
Yes this book is a romance. But it is so much more. I think as much as I loved the romance between Karla and Lee, my favorite part is the tension of the grey area. I loved how both characters had to make tough life choices, ones that were best suited to their personal situations. Their thought process and decision making was on full display in this book. It was fascinating to watch each individual make hard choices and decide what needed to be done. Watching Karla make the hard calls was admirable. She did what needed to be done without batting an eye. She knew the lines between right and wrong, which allowed her to make decisions that would not compromise who she was. As she developed as a person, she learns to look at things in a wide scope. She is still true to herself but she no longer makes snap judgements. Lee and Karla both need to make tough decisions that will affect their futures if they want to be together. Seeing that process played out in this book was beautiful and at times harsh and raw.
Another thing I loved was how this book falls in the Hearts series timeline. This book happens during the period of “waiting” in the middle of King of Hearts, the previous in the series. If you have read the book, you know what I am talking about. I loved getting to see what happened and Alexis’ reactions to the life changing events. Seeing Karla’s role in her story adds so much more depth to their relationship and enhances the overall series.
The Cross boys have stolen my heart and I cannot wait to see more from the Hearts series. Cosway keeps making this series better and better, adding her own brand of special flair to a story that is sure to capture millions of fans. Do not miss this story. HEARTS OF BLUE is refreshing, thought provoking, and romantic. Karla and Lee’s story will steal your heart and you will never want it back again.
Lee didn’t answer, and instead he took a step forward, forcing me to back up if I didn’t want us to collide. The problem with this meant my back hit the wall a moment later.
“You’re so pretty, Snap,” he said, voice low, as he dropped his face to my hair and breathed in.
I wasn’t wearing a hat, and my hair was tied up in a bun. My entire body trembled when he wrapped his arms around my waist, inhaled deeply and pulled me into a hug. This was a distraction, I knew it, and yet, I let him distract me. I wanted to be distracted, and I was just glad that the blinds in his office had been pulled.
Standing in his embrace for at least a minute with silence all around us, I was unable to move. I liked having Lee close, loved the feel of him and how he could make feel so…surrounded. Despite all the warning signs, my attraction to him only grew stronger. There was just something about him that called to me.
“Lee.”
His mouth moved against my hair. “What is it, Karla?”
“Why are you hugging me?”
“You looked like you needed to be held.” His response was low, and the affectionate undertone had me swallowing deeply. At long last I summoned the willpower to break the hug. His arms fell away from me easily, my stomach churning with confusion. What the hell was I doing?
I stared at the floor when I spoke. “I have to go.”
Heading for the door, I paused when he said gently, “Hey, I needed it, too.”

Step right up and meet Jay Fields: Illusionist. Mentalist. Trickster.
I think in triangles. You think in straight lines.
I show you a table and make you believe it’s a chair.
Smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand, misdirection. I trick and deceive.
But most of all, I put on a good show.
The world thinks I killed a man, but I didn’t. Bear with me. It’s all a part of the plan.
Revenge is what I want. I want it for me and I want it for her.
I want it for all six of us.
She doesn’t remember me, but she’s the reason for everything. She’ll be my prize at the end of all this–if I can hold onto my willpower, that is. Maybe I’ll slip up a little, have a taste, just a small one.
So go ahead and pick a card. Come inside and see the show. Look at my hands, look so closely that you can’t see what’s happening while you’re so focused on looking. I’ll be destroying your world from right here in the spotlight.
You’ll never see me coming until it’s too late.
I’ve only got one heart, and after I’ve pulled off my grand deception I’ll hand it right to her.
So, sit back, relax, and let my girl tell you our story. You’re in for one hell of a ride.

The Circus Spektakulär is proud to present Jack McCabe: Fire-breather, knife-thrower, risk-taker.
My house burned down when I was just a boy, robbing me of both my parents.
Now I breathe fire, eat the poison that almost killed me.
Crowds come to see me night after night. Men for the spectacle, women for the thrill. I’m an oddity to be stared at and desired. With each flame I spit, I risk my life.
I wear scars on my body that will never go away, but the scars inside my head are far more difficult to overlook.
My brother doesn’t know me, and if I have it my way he never will.
Life was going exactly the way I’d planned until Lille came along. She wanted to run away with the circus, have an adventure, but this world was never meant for her.
I try to keep her safe, because she doesn’t know the dangers that are out here on the road. She doesn’t know the monsters that lurk behind the bright lights of the ring. In truth, I could be considered one of them.
We were fashioned from different cloths, never intended to mix. So I watch her. I try not to touch, even when her eyes invite me.
Join us in the Spiegeltent and let us give you a show. Allow my Lille to draw a picture for you in paint and sweat and skin.
The truest love is always the hardest to let in.
This is a standalone romance that tells the story of Jack McCabe, Jay Fields’ long lost, presumed dead brother. It is not necessary to have read Six of Hearts in order to enjoy Hearts of Fire.

Welcome to the City, London’s most prestigious square mile, where finance reigns and Oliver King is a rising prince.
I used to rule the world.
There might be wolves on Wall Street, but there were crocodiles in Canary Wharf. Some of us craved money. Some of us craved power.
I liked money, and power had its advantages, but what I really wanted was to excel, to surpass the men who came before me. I never cared much for love and romance until I met Alexis.
I could feel it the very moment she walked into the interview, with her outspoken charm and vivacious personality. She cast all the others in shadow, made me laugh when life held no humour. Our friendship should have remained professional, but it wasn’t long before the lines started to blur.
You know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men? Well, I never foresaw where my plans would lead, and only in my darkest hour did I finally see the light…
You can have all the money and prestige in the world and still be the poorest man alive. And love, well, I hate to use a tired old cliché, but love can be the thing that truly sets you free.
