Words to live by:
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Don’t break the rules.
I’d managed to fail at both by fraternizing with the enemy’s brother. Guess I’d followed in my mother’s footsteps by ignoring all the rules when it came to love.
Mom was marrying a man only six years older than me. A man who was also her student. But the biggest surprise that came out of their wedding wasn’t my new stepdad’s academic status or his age.
It was Jack Davis—my stepfather’s best friend.
Jack was the guy who could change the whole game. He was quite possibly my soul mate. But time and circumstance were against us—there was no easy way around it. I was moving back to New York in two weeks and his sister, Aubrey, was the one person my family hated most in this world. How would his sister—the enemy—deal with another Edwards girl claiming what she believed was hers? The idea of letting Jack go crippled me.

Freeing Destiny is another emotionally packed story to add to Faith Andrew’s resume. Normally I would roll my eyes at the instant fate like connection between two characters, but Faith makes me feel it and believe it in a way that is undeniable. Two people who meet and their souls instantly connect. It is rare to see this storyline displayed in a well flushed out manner and Faith did a great job. Seeing Stella and Jake fall in love was sweet and all consuming. I loved seeing it happen from both POVs, something that allows the reader to understand the undeniable connection and emotion that brews between these two. At first, all I could think was that everything was all to good to be true. Jack is a fabulous book boyfriend. He is attentive, committed, and everything you want to see. His devotion is sweet and his growing feelings are perfect. This love story was so perfect. At times, I wondered if anything could go wrong. Obviously there is a growing tension with their impending deadline with Stella’s move across the country but other than that, their romance is rainbows and butterflies. I was wondering where the drama was. Then it came when I least expected it. I guess I should have seen it coming but the sudden turn took me by surprise and added the flair of drama I was looking for.
This book can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous book in the series (only the prequel novella), but after finishing this one, you can bet I will one click that book. Some of the drama flows from the first book to the next, which means readers who have read Gabriella’s story have an advantage, knowing what has happened in the past in a bit more detail. You will not be lost if you read it like I did but I think it might add some depth to what happens in this book. Faith’s stories are quickly becoming some of my favorites to recommend. They are everything you want in a contemporary story: full of hope, romance, and angst.
