The real hero of this story is dead. You should have met him. He was a beautiful man. The love of my life. I didn’t deserve him.

Now what’s left are the jagged edges of the person I am without him, and what I have to do to get by. This isn’t even a story about love. Not really. It’s a twisted tale of revenge and hate—a happily never after.

The only man in my life now is the one I have to kill.

I’m Savvy Raine.
I used to be a wife.
I used to be a mother.
Now I am the Revenger.

tina thoughts a review for you

To say I was surprised by this book would be a mild reaction. I don’t know what I expected, but this was not it. The Revenger blends supernatural with the strength of love and the deplorable realities of humanity. I would say when you decide to read this book, which you should, take a moment to clear your head of any preconceived notions and go in without expectations. Debra does a great job of keeping the plot twists coming and developing a story that is intriguing and a bit horrifying (in the best way possible).

When you read the synopsis you get a good gist of what to expect, but set it aside and dive straight in. Debra does a great job building on what you learn and adding many twists and turns into the fold. Savvy is a woman of emotion. She has lived through the worst imaginable tragedy any wife and mother can. She survived the accident that killed her husband and child. She is living with so much pain and guilt. It is interesting to see her process these emotions and attempt to live a life without meaning. Her reality is skewed and her purpose is lost.

When the supernatural element comes into play, the story becomes crazy addictive. I was so intrigued as to what was happening to Savvy and how she would react. She became a revenging angel, a woman who had a purpose, one that straddled the line of selfishness and for the good of humanity. There is a very interesting tug of war happening in her life as a result of her newfound reality. It adds so much to the story.

Watching the series of events unfold is both intriguing and slightly terrifying. The twisted mentalities we see are a bit unstable but add so much to the story. When things went one way, but I preferred another, Debra was able to sway me to her viewpoint, allowing me to be immersed in the story she presented.  This story is not about a new blooming love or about anything sweet and delicate. It is about revenge and changing the course of a life. It is about sacrifice and holding onto the ultimate hope and end results. It is not meant to show the beauty but instead the deplorable tendencies of human nature and the power to stop it. This book is one that stands out in the sea of stories as something different and enlightening. The Revenger will leave you reeling, questioning why things had to be that way, yet oddly satisfied with how it all turned out.
