Today is the release of This One Moment, the latest from Stina Lindenblatt, and what better way to celebrate than to share a fun interview with her! I was honored to be able to interview Stina, a new to me author, and pick her brain about things both book related and random! Check out what we chatted about and learn more about this brilliant author! And don’t forget to check out her new release, This One Moment, a fabulous second chance romance that hits all the right spots! Read more about this book below, along with my review! Don’t miss out.
How would you describe your style as an author?
I love angst-filled stories (especially if they make me cry), but I also love it when humor and heart is thrown into the mix. So that’s the style of story I tend to write. And let’s not forget the sexy times. My books fall on the steamy side of things.
Three adjectives that describe you.
Distractible, hockey-loving, introspective
Who is your favorite female and male lead character that you have ever written?
This is a tough question because I love each of them, like a mother loves each of her children. But since I have to narrow it down… I love broken heroes. The more broken the better. Marcus Reid from Tell Me When and Let Me Know falls into this category (as do most of my heroes). I put the poor guy through so much, and I ugly-cried every time I worked on a particular scene in Tell Me When.
Amber Scott from the same books is my favorite heroine. She had endured so much before Tell Me When even started. She’s an incredibly strong character because of this.
THIS ONE MOMENT is a second chance story. That is one of my absolute favorite types of romances. What is your favorite genre of romance to write? Your favorite to read?
It’s mine too. I love writing and reading second-chance and friends-to-lovers stories. The love interests already know each other, they love each other despite their quirks, but there’s still doubt sitting heavy on their shoulders.
What scene in THIS ONE MOMENT was your favorite to write, the one you could not wait for your readers to experience?
Hands down it’s the first time that Hailey and Nolan kiss. In a way, the cover reminds me of that scene. Yes, there’s a guitar involved. 😉
When you started writing, what was the piece of advice that meant the most to you?
Write what you’re passionate about. Some writers chase trends, but when you write from the heart, readers can sense that. The stories just feel more genuine.
What book is your all time favorite, a book you can read a million times over and still fall in love with?
THOUGHTLESS by SC Stephens. Every time I read it, Kellan Kyle takes my breath away, and his backstory brings tears to my eyes. It’s the same deal with THOUGHTFUL, which is THOUGHTLESS told from Kellan’s point of view.
If you could write any genre outside your norm, what would it be?
Horror. It’s tough to write a good horror story that leaves a reader terrified to keep reading, but unable to stop. That would be the ultimate challenge.
If you had to be the lead female character in any book, what book would you choose?
Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. I love her wit and that she knew her heart and followed it. But she was also levelheaded and intelligent.
Barefoot or heels?
Barefoot. I’m clumsy in heels, and my poor ankles have endured enough sprains in their lifetime so far.
e-Book or paperback?
Is both an option? I live in Canada and some ebooks are expensive (even if I buy off a US retailer with a US credit card). If the book is available for a similar price in print, then I buy print.
Liam Hemsworth or Chris Hemsworth?
Both Hemsworth men are hotties, but I’m going with Chris. With his accent.
This One Moment
Pushing the Limits #1
Stina Lindenblatt
Genre: Rock Star Romance
Publication Date: April 5, 2016
Fame, fortune, and stadiums full of screaming fans are right around the corner for the rock band at the heart of Stina Lindenblatt’s steamy, intense Pushing Limits series. But it’s an epic love affair that steals the show in this opening act.
When Nolan Kincaid skipped town to chase the music career of his dreams, he knew he wouldn’t miss the reminders of his broken family—he wasn’t so sure he could forget the girl he left behind. Now his band is touring nonstop, the recording sessions go all night, and the groupies are crazed. But when he hears that Hailey Wilkins is in trouble, he drops everything.
Hailey thought she’d missed her chance with Nolan. Five years ago, the moment she realized she loved him was the moment he decided to leave. Now, when a brutal assault lands her in the ICU, Nolan flies straight to her bedside, acting like nothing’s changed. What’s a rock star like him doing, canceling shows and risking his record deal, just to nurse an old friend back to health? And why should Hailey believe he’ll stay this time?
With her attacker still at large, Nolan’s ready to rise to the occasion. He knows he let Hailey down once before, but he’s ready to give her everything, heart and soul—and he’ll fight for the chance to prove it.
What is better than a rock star romance? How about a rock star romance that is also a second chance story with a healthy dose of mystery and danger thrown into the mix. All I have to say is that if all of Stina’s books are like this one, she has a new biggest fan. This One Moment is a flirty and wonderful story of two people who finally have their chance at a happily ever after. I love stories where characters have a rich and deep history. And you cannot get much deeper than Nolan and Hailey. These two have been best friends for many years and even time apart can not stop the spark that comes alive around each other. I loved how Stina brilliantly blends so many different themes I love into one sweet and heartfelt romantic story. Friends to lovers; second chances; rock stars rising to fame; family and home. The things you read in this book could easily overwhelm you but instead they are all woven into a story that will grip your heart and make you sigh.
Nolan and Hailey are both well written and fabulous characters. This book is told in duals POVs, which allows the reader to understand how they tick. This is both good and bad. It is good because we understand their reactions and true heart feelings. It is frustrating because it makes you want to smack them both and make them see reason. What could be overly angst tale is a story that shares a love that grew from unadulterated trust and friendship into something beautiful and powerful. The gives this story heart and soul, something that makes it different.
I love how this book does not fall into the silly cliché of an overbearing rock star bent on getting the girl. This book is unique. Nolan is sweet and his affection for Hailey is never in doubt. He is not the alpha dominant man who has to control it all. He is a kind and heartfelt character who will do anything to make things right. The element of danger and suspense helps to create a book that is set apart from the genre. Never knowing where the danger is or who might be behind Hailey’s attack allows the reader to constantly be on their toes, wondering if what you know is true and who the true villain is. When everything comes to light, it was not what I expected and the danger was amplified into something even more sinister.
This One Moment is a story of love, loss, family, hope, dreams, and forgiveness. It encompasses so many themes and elements that create a story that is head and shoulders above the rest. This book has everything readers want and it presents it all in a well written and heartfelt package. This book has created a new Stina fan and I am so excited to see what she has in store for the Pushing the Limits series. I hope for more glimpses of Hailey and Nolan!
