The continued collaboration between Cosway and Reid is pure gold. This book was brilliant! The Player and the Pixie takes the brilliant we have learned to expect from both Cosway and Reid and takes it one step further. I loved this story! There are so many wonderful themes happening. There is family, friendship, secrets, and quirky characters. There are moments of intense passion and vulnerability. Other times there is anger and hurt. I enjoyed how this book encompasses so much into one story and continues to carry the torch presented in The Hooker and The Hermit.
It goes without saying that the writing is fantastic. These two know their craft and it is even better when they combine their powers and create books together. The story has an organic ebb and flow, allowing the chemistry between Sean and Lucy and the story as a whole to move naturally. The highs and lows are perfect for what is happening and the pace is smooth, carrying the reader from one idea straight into another.
Sean and Lucy are spot on characters. They are unapologetically who they are, flaws and all. I loved getting to see more of these two and learn what makes them tick. I will admit that I was quite shocked when I realized who the hero of the story was. Sean was a horrible person and he attempted to ruin Ronan’s life in the first book. But when the shock wore off, the curiosity took over. I loved understanding why he is the way he is and the truth behind his actions. Add in a quirky and fun loving pixie and something interesting is bound to happen. Lucy is the complete opposite of Sean in every conceivable way. Their love story illustrates the “opposites attract” concept beautifully.
If you loved the first book, you will see quite a bit of Annie and Ronan, as well as other players from the team. The people we meet in this book add depth and personality, allowing the story to grow into something solid and wonderful to read. My love of these two authors knows no bounds and this book is yet another token of their mastered brilliance! Do not miss this book!

Penny Reid
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
