A Friends With Benefits Story
Daisy Prescott
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 5, 2016
“If you want to date me, all you need to do is say the word. I’d never let you go.”
I added Sage to my rugby club’s annual list of women who are off limits thinking I could protect her from the gorillas I play with. Aspen’s a small town in the off season when the dating pool shrinks to the size of a melted snowflake. Never did I think I’d be the one to break the code and date her.
Even if it’s all for show. A wager between friends. An excuse to hang out with her more.
Nothing more than that.
Right?

Who agrees to date their best friend over a green smoothie? Apparently this girl right here.
Now the man-bun-sporting South African rugby god next door is my fake boyfriend. I need to rebuild my confidence after some poor dating decisions. Who could be better to fluff my ego than Aspen’s hottest bachelor?
This situation is a win-win.
Right?

There are some books in the world that I imagine writers write just for me, at least that is what I tell myself. These books are so in tune with what I love about everything from the genre to the characters to the situations. It is a story you want to live in happily ever after forever. Next to You is that story for me. I wanted to be Sage and fall in love Stan. Everything about this book was perfection. It was a story that made my heart beat strong for romance and deep relationships.
A story of friends to lovers is always a fun one to read. You know there is history and it comes out brilliantly in this book. The friendship between Sage and Stan is heartfelt and their interactions and banter highlight that fact. There is an attraction but nothing has happened. One day everything changes and the tables turn. I love how the shift in their relationship felt natural. It was not forced or hard to imagine. These two meld well together and the more you learn about them the more you realize they are soulmates, the perfect match.
Sage and Stan as characters are great. Sage’s personality was so fun! Her family was wonderful and watching her learn to embrace who she is fully was so fun! Stan is my perfect man. A man bun South African Rugby player created to steal hearts! I mean it doesn’t get much better than that! They are both full of fun with personalities to match! Their chemistry is brilliant. The romance between these two is like a pile of embers that they tried to hide and gasoline has be thrown on the embers. It sparks and rages, and nothing is going to put it out. This book has taken the top spot for my absolute favorite from Daisy and one of my favorite reads from 2016. I cannot wait to read this beauty again!
