I am in love with Stacey’s Nodric Lords MC series and her Just One Song Series, so naturally a new series caught my attention. I don’t know how I missed the first book in the series but that mistakes has already been rectified by my one click obsession. His to Protect felt like it was a bit sexier than what I have read from Stacey in the past. It was raw and emotional, a story that is relevant to the world today. There is abuse, corruption, danger, and choice. I loved reading this book and watching a woman transform as the pages turned. Trina is a fighter and her story is sadly one that is widely experienced by so many women. Watching her heal, both physically and emotionally, during her time with Declan is something I loved to read. Transformation in a story is one of my favorites and this book shared that theme so well!
Declan and Trina are a perfect match. Declan was a brilliant book boyfriend. This man was a wonderful blend of rough around the edges, alpha male meets sweetheart on the inside. He was gentle and kind but also a fierce warrior and defender. He encompassed these seemingly conflicting characteristics so perfectly, making him the man Trina needs. She needs a protector and he is the one to step up and fulfill that role. It feels natural for them to rely on each other, despite the lack of time together, and I appreciated the way Declan’s community embraced Trina so well.
This book is filled with ups and downs with a hot romance. There are so many heartfelt moments of hurt and hope balanced by moments of fiery passion. I am excited to read more in the Fireside series and get to know the other characters I met in this book!
