I have many mixed emotions about this book. I don’t  normally (and by normally I mean I have never) read a book like this. I have read some mind game books but this one, when you add the intense erotic and emotional aspect I was not expecting, is a whole new level. Prisoned is a book that was very well written, a book that was gut wrenching and slightly horrifying. As much as it might not have been something I would normally pick up, it was most certainly a book that embodies everything the genre would require.

I have read some dark books before but this one left me shocked. Perhaps it was the element of romance that was intertwined throughout the book. I don’t want to spoil anything but know that this story will take you to places I was not expecting. Kyle is a brilliantly written character, one who has been a pawn in a game she had no intention of being a part of. She is pulled from so many sides and for her to survive, she has to make hard choices. She is surrounded by the scum of the earth and I had an urge to protect her.

Seeing the majority of the story through Kyle’s POV makes the reader entrenched in what is happening through her eyes, giving us a desperate birds eye view of what she is dealing with and feeling. The few chapters we have in Garin’s POV shows the reader that this is something so much bigger than I would have ever guessed. Learning what is going on through his POV was a bit horrifying and so twisted.

If you love dark romance, a book that is equal parts horrifying and sexy, Prisoned is a must read for you. It may not be my normal cup of tea, but I can appreciate the twists and turns in this well written story that Marni Mann has created. But be warned, this book is not for the faint of heart. It will tear you up inside and leave you searching for the lesser evil in every situation you encounter.
