I love being surprised when I read a book. When I started to read this book I had an expectation of what would happen. Those expectations were met in a surprising package that left me satisfied and in love with Shari’s storytelling. Spiked Lemonade is a fantastic blend of what is sexy, passionate, and dangerous.
This story is the epitome of what it looks like for opposites to attract. What would happen if there was undeniable chemistry between a clean talking southern belle and a foul mouthed sailor? A connection that burns bright and hot? Well, this book is your answer. Shari does a great job of giving us a cast of brilliant characters, people who are family to the core, and showing what their deep connection looks like. All the people in this story are vital to what is happening, keeping the pace heightened.
A big part of this story is the romance. Everything between Sasha and Jags is electric. I loved the constant push and pull between these two. And while the romance is a big part, the growth of characters make this book wonderful. Watching Sasha learn who she is and what she wants from life is both endearing and vital to this book. Jags is a wanderer and he finds his place in the world again. Wrap those two themes together, adding in a crazy ex who will go to any length to get what he wants, and you have a winner!
Needless to say, I will be keeping an eye on Shari J Ryan. This book hits all the spots and it wraps a great story in a romantically thrilling package. Don’t miss this book!
