There is something about watching an author come into their writing, to mature and show how multifaceted they can be, that makes me so happy. RS Grey continues to surprise me and A Place in the Sun is, in my humble opinion, the best she has ever written. This book combines the humor and romantic comedy we have come to know and love from Grey with an emotional story filled with wanderlust and second chances. This story is filled with flawed but relatable characters, smart dialogue, and exciting places.
If I had to choose one thing that made this book great to me, it would be Georgie. We get a glimpse into who this woman is in The Summer Games: Out of Bounds and I was not prepared for how much I would absolutely adore this woman! Georgie embodies everything I love about a heroine. She is feisty, kind, loving, and impossible to predict. She is a breath of fresh air in the genre and for Gianluca. She is someone that burns bright, even in the darkest places, a person that attracts people effortlessly. Her personality is so large and this book does justice to who she is. I wanted to travel the world with Georgie and experience new things with her.
The romance between Georgie and Gianluca is stunning. Opposites attract! She cannot keep from thinking about the tall, dark, and brooding stranger. He is attracted to her bright and persistent personality. She pursues him, a fun twist in this story, and that is fantastic. When they come together, there are explosions of lust and passion. I love that it is not instantaneous, but instead it is a slow burn that consumes them both.
This book fills the need for a great romance book with a healthy dose of wanderlust. I love a book that can take me across the ocean to a place I long to explore. As I was reading, I wanted so badly to swim in the sea with Georgie and shop in the local markets, eating gelato and drinking wine. I wanted to buy an outfit at Katerina’s shop and dine at Massimo’s restaurant. I wanted to hike the mountains and explore the local life so beautifully brought to life in this book. Very few books draw that wanderlust out in me and this one made me itching to grab my passport and go on an adventure, one that would hopefully change my life. Grey has stunned me with this book and I am excited for what she has next!
