An immortal wanderer. A brilliant scientist. A centuries-old menace written in blood.

Lucien Thrax, son of the earth and child of the ancients, is a healer of immense power. But years of work on a deadly vampire virus have not led to a cure, nor have they softened the wall he built around his heart. When he’s forced to work with Doctor Makeda Abel, Lucien is convinced he’s reached his limit of patience with humanity.

Makeda Abel may be human, but she’s far from impressed with the brooding vampire healer, even if his mind draws her reluctant admiration. She’s learned how to survive in the immortal world, and it’s not by being afraid. Working together may lead them to answers, but it also pushes Lucien and Makeda’s attraction to the boiling point.

When nightmares become reality, Makeda will have to trust Lucien with her life. Finding answers has never been more vital. Finding love has never been more deadly. To heal the Elemental World, Lucien and Makeda must follow ancient paths and ask for help from the most inhuman of immortals. Because even with a cure in hand, the battle has only begun.

tina thoughts a review for you

In my very humble opinion, Elizabeth Hunter is the queen of paranormal and supernatural romance. I have adored and devoured all of Hunter’s books and A Stone Kissed Sea is another gleaming jewel in her crown. The Elemental World was once again waiting to welcome me with open arms, and what a welcome it was!

Lucien and Makeda… where do we even begin?! Their love story is one of enemies to lovers, a battle of the brains, in which obvious attraction is fought tooth and nail. Everything about these two is intense and it creates a story that is combustible and passionate. When these two first meet, you know the story is going to be great. The meeting of the minds takes on new meaning when these two get together to solve a problem. I love that they cannot seem to be in the same room without annoying each other. They have both been so set in their independence that to take on a partner in any capacity is a thorn in the side. I enjoyed how they start to notice each other. It is an intellectual attraction that blooms into something more. These two are headstrong but when they put their minds together, the sky is the limit.

The romance between these two begins as a slow burn. I loved that Makeda is different than other heroines. She takes her time and doesn’t jump in with both feet. She is cautious and logical, two things that set her apart. But when she dives in, she is ALL in, bringing with her a passion and power that is like a tidal wave. Makeda is the perfect match for Lucien. These two bring out the best in each other, spurring one another to be better and stronger.

The Elixir problem is a main theme in this book. This problem has been brewing throughout the series and we finally have some traction on the extent of the damage and the direction their world is heading. I love that Hunter blends science with paranormal in this story, not only with the minds of Lucien and Makeda, but also through the Elixir problem and its cure. As you read, you travel around the world, seeing different vampires and the way they pass their time. Alliances are made and enemies are defeated. The build up to the end is a slow burn that will spark the wanderlust and excitement in readers. Lucien and Makeda are brilliant and this story is just what we want and hoped for! Welcome back to the Elemental World my friends!
