Up in Flames
Flirting With Fire #2
Jennifer Blackwood
Genre: Romance
Publication Date: October 9, 2018
It takes one little spark for enemies to ignite into lovers in a searing-hot novel by USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Blackwood.
Sloane Garcia has butted heads with Reece Jenkins ever since he was a colossal jerk of epic proportions on a night she’d rather forget. So what if he’s overconfident, ultramasculine, and hard muscled? When she finds out he’s on the auction block at the annual firefighter’s charity event, she decides to give this cocky firefighter a dose of his own medicine. Now that she’s won the hunk, he’s on call—to do whatever Sloane wants.
Sure, Reece and Sloane had a rocky start, but he had his reasons. None of that matters now that he’s the bachelor at her beck and call, tasked with granting her four wishes in four weeks. He runs into burning buildings for a living, but nothing will be as tough as dousing the flames Sloane ignites in him. What started out as just a game might end up with Reece losing the one thing he swore he’d never give up: his heart.
Where do I begin? Jennifer Blackwood has always had a way of snagging me with her stories! Up in Flames is no exception. These types of stories are my favorite. It is a blend of second chances, once friends now enemies turned to lovers, and the forbidden theme of falling for your sister’s best friend that creates a unique tension I cannot get enough of! Sloane and Reece have so much tensions between them. There are only two options: fight like cats and dogs OR a sexual relationship that is off the charts. Since the second seems to be off the table due to a past encounter, they are always picking at each other. Their banter is phenomenal. I found myself laughing so hard in this book! There is never a dull moment with these two. And then when Sloane comes up with a plan to make Reece pay for all of his past indiscretion, it is plot gold. These two work, and once they get past their preconceived notions, it is just what you want to read about. The ups and downs add depth and dynamic to the story, giving this girl a book she adored. Needless to say, Up in Flames has everything you want in a romance book. It has laugh out loud comedy, genuine characters, real conflict, and emotion. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the Flirting with Fire series!
