Look out world. We have another incredible JLA book to salivate over. But who would have expected anything less?? This book was INCREDIBLE. I feel sacrilege saying it but it is my favorite of the entire saga. I still love Cam, Jace, Avery and Theresa.  It couples the perfect amount of romance, heartfelt moments, sexiness and angst that truly embodies the New Adult genre. It just seemed like a deeper and more powerful book and I cannot wait to read it again. My only regret is that I will not be able to read it for the first time again. It blew me away and I cannot wait for the world to read it!

Now time to rave about some incredible characters. Calla is one of the best written characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading. She is someone who has literally been through hell and back, yet she conquers life one step at a time. Her character and determination are so profound. Life continues to deal her blow after blow yet she stands strong and moves on. Not to say that she is callus. This girl feels deeply the wounds of her life yet she chooses to embrace the world around her. Her healing and inner transformation made me so emotional at times. She wants to leave the past behind and move on, something that causes her to make poor choices in the lies of her past, yet she desires for people to see her as who she is and not where she came from. Then there is Jax. Good lawd, that boy! He is smart, sexy, funny, flirty and oh so wrong for her (in Calla’s opinion, not mine), yet oh so perfect, exactly what she needs. He is an enigma and a puzzle that keeps Calla guessing! He is the best protector and friend she could ever want or need.

One lie Calla lives with daily is that her mother is dead. This is anything from the truth. Her mother is ruining Calla’s life from afar and Calla decides to take matters into her own hands by going home for the summer and dealing with her mother and past. Nothing is as it seems when she returns home and her mom is missing. Instead, she meets Jax, the incredible sweet, hot and flirtatious bartender at her mother’s bar. Things get a dicey when her mother’s “friends” come looking for her and the truth of the danger and trouble that her mother is in causes danger and struggle for Calla by default. So naturally, Jax takes his role as protector very seriously, delving into so much more than they would have thought. Their friendship becomes so much more. Their relationship is one of the best I have ever seen written in the pages of a New Adult novel.

This book is the perfect recipe of love, romance and suspense. I really enjoyed the suspense factor. The drama was so well played out. You never truly understood who was what and where things were going but, like Calla, we were able to focus on what was happening at hand and fall for sweet Jax. Their banter was incredible. I love how JLA’s characters have a real authentic quality that leaps off the page, one that cannot be ignored. There is no way you could not love this book! We see some of the favorites from the other books in the saga, giving us insight into what is happening with their lives. I loved Calla’s internal dialogue about the people in her life, and literally laughed out loud when she starts diving into the Hot Buy Brigade. There are so many incredible things I could ramble on about but let’s just say you need to read this book! It is probably my favorite New Adult book that JLA has written. You will not be dissapointed!
