Claire and Liz have always had a friendship that defied the test of time, but when one of them is diagnosed with a disease that every woman fears, their bond is put through the wringer. How do you cope knowing your soul mate could be taken from you?

Filled with memories of their life long friendship, inappropriate behavior, bad tattoos and shaving cats, the two friends will realize that laughter really is the best medicine.

Tattoos and TaTas is not your typical love story; it’s a story of friendship and learning how to let go when something is beyond your control.

Tina's Thoughts... A review for you

I love the trend that purchasing a book and reading it will help fund a change in the world. This book hit the mark. I was excited to buy my own copy and dive in, but it was coupled with a sense of satisfaction. I say that not in a way to sounds haughty but in such a way that when situations and things such as cancer are overwhelming and hard to process, it is uplifting to know that doing what I love can help someone one day. With that being said, Tattoos and Tatas was brilliant. It takes the reader on a journey from the past to the present, allowing the reader to see glimpses of a deep soulmate friendship and what it looks like when those ties are pulled and situations threaten to destroy them. The story of lifelong friends, Claire and Liz, is one that made me step back and think about the people in my life. The ones who have been with me through thick and thin; those who know the ins and outs of who I am at the deepest levels of my soul. As I read this book, I was assaulted (in the best possible way) by so many emotions. I laughed out loud so much more than I expected at their antics and humor. I took a deep solemn breathe when tragedy struck. I teared up watching Liz deal with the pain and frustration of watching her “person” struggle to survive. It was raw. It was hard. Yet the story finds the silver lining, making light of what is happening, all the while understanding the gravity of the situation. It showed that there was no shame in crying ugly alligator tears. You can rage, scream at the world, curse and ignore it for a while, but it comes down to the steps you take once the shock has left. Everyone grieves in different ways. And it isn’t always a grieving of death. Sometimes it is a grieving of innocence lost, the loss of a place of security and life, learning to readjust and find hope and purpose when the smoke clears. Watching each character in this story process in such different ways was one of the best portrayals of this journey I have ever seen. It shows the wide spectrum of grief, allowing the reader to accept that grieving is a unique process, one that few can truly connect and understand. I loved the flashbacks throughout their 30 years of friendship. Seeing where it began and how they connected, how they never changed in the core of their friendship. This story makes you want to step back and hug your sister, best friend, and mom. It is a sobering story full of life, love, heartache, and hope.

“Fuck Cancer. Save second base. Fight like a girl. Do it all and do it with a few laughs because you are amazing, you are strong and you are a fighter, just like my best friend.” –Tattoos & TaTas
