Two people. A one-night stand. What could go wrong?

Javier Cruz definitely isn’t relationship material, but that suits Hazel Gellar just fine. She’s not a relationship girl and doesn’t plan on ever being one.

But after a mind-blowing, panty-ripping, bed-breaking night, she knows once isn’t going to be enough. Fortunately, Javi feels the same way. Soon, what started as just one night turns into a lot of nights, and Hazel doesn’t know what to do.

Will she and Javi make the choice to be together for longer than just right NOW?

Tina's Thoughts... A review for you

I do love a good Chelsea Cameron book and this one fits the bill! This book felt like a different kind of New Adult to me, a more subtle spin on the genre. It was full of such over the top sweet moments that made me roll my eyes and grin like a fool (in the absolute best way possible). It was simple yet complicated love story between two well written characters. Javi and Hazel’s story is so different from Shannon and Jett’s story in FOR REAL, the first book in the Rules of Love series.  They all come from similar crappy backgrounds and childhoods but their experiences shaped them in completely different ways. Javier is the suave sexy player who is mysterious and alluring to everyone he meets. His charm and flirtations, as well as his skills in the bedroom, are well renowned. Hazel is a focused woman who intends to make the most of herself as a lawyer. She is determined to rise above her families history and become a success. She is feisty and looking for a connection but nothing to serious. Hazel attempts to be immune to Javier’s charming charisma  through sarcasm and much needed boundaries, boundaries that Javier pushes against at every opportunity. One night while they are studying alone in Hazel and Shannon’s apartment, things get little heated and perspectives start to change. Neither one of them wants the pressure of a declared relationship so they enter into an arrangement of sorts. They enjoy being together but the constraints of labeling their new relationship is a source of hesitation. So for now, they decided to leave the future exactly where is it, in the future, and live in the moment, embracing their changing arrangement yet not defining it as anything more or less than what they can handle.

We are introduced to Javier and Hazel in the first book of the series and both have distinctly headstrong personalities. Javier is the epitome of mysterious sexy player and Hazel is the headstrong, pushy best friend. When we meet them again in FOR NOW, we get to dive into who they are as opposed to how they are perceived as a secondary character. Javier was one of the more intriguing secondary characters from the first book, in my opinion, and when his story began to unfold I was hooked. His family drama and history is not one to be trifled with. He is still that sweet talking man but everything goes deeper. And man, I would give anything to have a home cooked meal by Javier. When he started to cook every evening for himself and Hazel, I just swooned a little more each time.

As with Javier, Hazel is so much more than I thought. In the first book, I was always annoyed with her pestering and interference in Shannon’s life. I know it came from a good place but nonetheless, she drove me crazy. The more I learned about her in this book, the more I started to understand. Hazel is a driven woman with no time for the drama and commitment of a relationship yet she is so lonely. When things heat up with Javier, we see an understandable hesitation, one that continually nags her throughout the book. Her family is broken and has treated her terribly ever since she made the decision to do more with her life. The people who are supposed to love you unconditionally continually abandon and belittle her, in turn making love something she is hesitant about. Yet she finds a sense of belonging and a cure to the loneliness through Javier.

This book has a little bit of conflict but it is centered in Javier and Hazel’s minds. They go through tiffs like any new couple but they both have to struggle to overcome their past history and misconceptions of what a healthy functioning relationship looks like. When they begin to fall in love it overly sappy and romantic, something that is so different and so beautiful for these two. Watching then both grow individually and as a couple was wonderful to watch. The whole story you seem to wait for the other shoe to drop but it never came in a way that I expected. It was a story of healing, love, and a hope for something more. The sweet moments were like indulging in too much candy and the sexy moments were like wild spread fire! It was perfect! Their chemistry was insane and their relationship was fabulous! Mark this one as another Chelsea Cameron book to read!
