Alicia Rae has an incredible way of intertwining her characters throughout the story in such a way that there is a heart connect between the reader and the people we meet in the world she has created. When the Beautiful Series ended and the Fate for Love Series was alluded to at the end, I was excited to meet a new cast of characters and have glimpses into the lives of those I had come to love in the series before. Enduring Fate does not disappoint and it is exactly what fans of Alicia Rae’s have come to love and expect.
Enduring Fate starts with a young woman, Paige, who is recovering from a horrific accident that left her destroyed both physically and emotionally. She is attempting to get her physical body back to where it used to be, but she is hiding from her life and family, ignoring the emotional and mental repercussions of what happened that day. Then we see Colton, the man she left behind. He is determined to love her from afar until she is ready to come home. But when she takes too long, he enlists the help of a friend to get her back to where she belongs, by his side. As they attempt to process what happened months ago and figure out what is next, the road is filled with many twists and turns that will both break your heart and mend it. There are moments of sadness and anger, as well as pure joy and peace.
Paige is an incredibly woman. She is going through Physical Therapy to help her walk again and learning how to put the pieces of her life back together again. Her determination to be whole again is admirable. She pushes through the pain and makes such amazing physical progress throughout the story. Having been in PT myself post surgery, I could not help but cheer her on as she overcame the obstacles and positively progressed day by day. Colton is a man that knows what he wants and is patient to wait for it. He is strong, both physically and emotionally. He is responsible, kind, hard-working, and full of life and passion. His work ethic and determination is so well written, creating a hero worthy of swooning and our wonderful heroine.
This story is written from both Paige and Colton’s point of views. This allows the reader to better understand their emotional journey, which is half the process to getting their lives back to where they need to be. This second chance romance was so sweet. I love how they took their time and eased back into what had been. As childhood best friends who turned into lovers, their is so much history between these two. Their lives have been intertwined for as long as they can remember, which creates a unique twist on this story. I loved the roles that their parents both played in this story, adding support and depth to Paige and Colton.
Enduring Fate contemplates what was, what is, and what could be. It takes two very strong and wonderful characters, giving them the chance and space they need to reconnect in an authentic and powerful way. This book is a story of healing, love, passion, and second chances. It has emotional highs and lows, with a bit of intrigue and danger thrown in. I love how the story connects so many moving parts and does it well. As the reader, you are given what you need, when you need it. This book is an incredible first installment to the Fate for Love series and I can hardly wait to see what Alicia has in store for the us!
Fair warning, there is a second book to this tale that is available in March of 2015. I am so used to Alicia’s Beautiful Series, in which each character has their HEA at the end of each book, and when I got to the last page I was surprised to say the least. I am ready for the second book and the conclusion to Paige and Colton’s story! So be warned that there is more coming, especially after that ending! Don’t miss this book!
