Be still my ever beating heart! When I heard there was more of Lailah and Jude’s story, I was so happy! JL Berg blew me out of the water with her story Within These Walls and it was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2014! Beyond These Walls takes us further into Lailah and Jude’s happily ever after, sharing the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. It is a story filled with so much emotion, hope, and love. I was not sure what to expect, but when I finished this book I thought to myself “That was the absolute perfect ending for some of my favorite characters.” Thank you JL for such a powerful love story!

Beyond These Walls takes us into the world of Jude and Lailah, two absolutely adorable people so madly in love with each other that it could be too sweet but it never was. Lailah is a survivor who once again finds her tenacity for life, an excitement that had being too dull in her normal day to day life. She is one of my favorite characters because she has such a respect and love for the mundane. Having had a tumultuous life in and out of surgeries and the hospital,  she is free to enjoy what she saw for so many years from the sidelines. She loves deeply and lives fearlessly. When hard times come, she is determined to fight on despite the uncertainty. I loved her love of people and life. It is inspiring. Jude is the perfect love for Lailah. He has healed from his past heartaches and become the man she needs. He understands her in such a way that they truly complete one another. His vow to protect her will never be swayed. His heart is big and his love for Lailah is overwhelming.

I was excited to see what plotlines and themes we see in this story and HOLY SMOKES I was not disappointed. I do not want to give anything away in my review but know that this book will tug at your heartstrings. Their love grows every day and they begin a life of happily ever after together. When hardship strikes, it is a raw and emotional time for these two. Their fear and uncertainty creates friction in their relationships but these two choose to fight. They have survived so much and this is something they are determined to win.

While reading this book I felt so much. There is so much joy, as well as so much uncertainty. You literally never know what is going to happen until it does. I felt like I was always waiting for the other shoes to drop, so to speak.  The fate of this couple was uncertain at times but they fought till the end of the last page with so much love and tenacity. The follow up to Jude and Lailah’s story is exactly what I wanted and I am so happy to have read their story! This is a book you will not want to miss!
