This story surprised me. I was expecting one thing and was pleasantly surprised with another. There is misdirection galore and that allows the reader to be excited in the anticipation of what will happen next. I appreciated that this was a single story in the grand scheme of another, one that will continue throughout the series. There are missions left unaccomplished and secrets that are still hidden in the end but there is more coming. The suspenseful quality of this story takes it from being a passionate love story between a tortured soul and a beautiful woman to something more. I loved attempting to put the pieces of the puzzle together. I loved being shocked when a landslide of information came barreling out of nowhere.
